About Us

We are a diverse law firm specialising mainly in services for the individual. Our head office is in Heath but we can also meet you, by prior appointment, in Whitchurch.

We strive to provide a unique personal service and endeavour to use an empathetic approach to our clients' needs and requirements. We value our clients and their instructions and we are a friendly law firm who will try to go the ‘extra mile’ to help clients quite often going through difficult periods of their lives.

We thrive to offer a friendly legal service where the client is seen as a person and where we will accommodate their set of circumstances as friendly and as professionally as we can.

Helen Dickie and Mary Minton are solicitors in the Practice, with a combined 55 years plus legal experience. Helen and Mary both specialise in family and private client matters and can be contacted via our web site by clicking on a request for a consultation under the tab ‘meet the team’.

Helen and Mary have a lot of experience in dealing with difficult issues on behalf of clients and can listen and legally advise whilst having empathy for the clients. At MD Law we consider this an important value, as our client’s often provide feedback as to the compassion we show throughout our time in acting for our clients.

We offer a variety of family services including divorce, financial remedy, non-molestation orders, occupation orders and cohabitation matters, whether these are contested or for future planning.

We offer legal advice and assistance to any person facing a difficult dispute involving a child, our team have helped many clients through difficult times. Our services can vary from advising and acting for a parent trying to maintain contact with their children to acting for parents in an adoption. We have several years experience in dealing with child law and offer a child focused outcome for our client, with the child’s welfare always being considered as paramount throughout the course of legal proceedings.

We have a wealth of considerable experience in Private Client matters. Preparing matters for your future should never be underestimated. We offer a Wills service together with acting for clients in probate matters.

This is the process when someone passes away; quite often when loved ones die we are left feeling vulnerable and uncertain what to do next. At MD Law we can offer assistance with a compassionate service while guiding you through the legal process.

We also act for clients wanting to make Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) and can offer legal advice when an LPA may not be an option. Also should capacity be an issue, we can assist in making an application to the Court Of Protection for concerned relatives.

Probate Sales
Probate Sales

Helen Dickie deals with probate sale transactions only. We have recently decided to close our mainstream property department, although Helen does work as a Consultant Solicitor for another well established South Wales firm.


Our property department is well established and here at MD Law we are happy to act for clients who are selling a property through probate and where we are acting in that probate matter also.


Should your enquiry be of another nature such as a residential purchase we can refer you to Helen who can discuss whether you would like to instruct her individually under her consultancy role at the other law firm which is separate from MD Law.

Everyone needs a Will, to ensure your hard-earnt assets are protected where possible and go to the people or causes which you care most about. Many people delay or have doubts about making a Will and around 180,000 people a year die intestate (without making a Will).

Making a Will is not only for the elderly or unwell. Ensuring you have a Will can avoid significant problems for those you leave behind.
