With over 20 years of practising legal experience, I specialise in family and private client matters.

In 2014, I founded MD Law to offer a personal service to the people of Cardiff, supporting them through stressful life changes.

As Managing Director of MD Law, I am proud to lead our highly experienced, hardworking, compassionate legal team.

WILLS, LASTING POWERS OF ATTORNEY & PROBATE

With a respectful, empathetic approach, I prepare Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney for clients of all ages, visiting clients in their homes when required.

I talk people through their options to protect their future and their power to make decisions.

I prepare lifetime trusts.

I act in Probate, making the legal process as painless as possible for grieving clients.

DIVORCE & SEPARATION

In family litigation, I support families through divorce and cohabitation separation to reach an amicable resolution, including working through mediation and court.

Having been through the process, I understand how my clients feel and the support they need.

LEGAL TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

Committed to inspiring the next generation of legal professionals, I have lectured in Law for the past ten years, including at the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) and BARBRI Altior. I enjoy sharing my working legal experience with students and delegates embarking on their careers.

Education, Professional Qualifications and Memberships

I qualified as a teacher having completed my PGCE in 2012, I found a passion early on in my career to teach and train pupils and delegates.

I completed a Law Degree at the University of Glamorgan in 2000.

I have worked with CILEX, Barbri Altior and local colleges teaching family law, property, ethics and professional standards.

I have also taught the family advocacy course for CILEX family advocates and assessed delegates on the new SQE qualification.

I qualified as a CILEX lawyer in 2004 and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2006.

I’m a professional member of The Association of Lifetime Lawyers (formerly Solicitors for the Elderly).

I’m an affiliate member of STEP, the global professional body of practitioners who help families plan for their futures.

It’s not all work!

I am proud to be involved with 2wish, a charity which provides bereavement support for those affected by the loss of a child or young adult.

I have three children and enjoy spending time with my family and I spend alot of time in West Wales, enjoying time at the beach, cold water swimming, hiking and socialising with my husband, children and dogs, Oscar and Toby.

I am a keen runner having completed the Cardiff half marathon in October 2024 raising money for the NSPCC.

I regularly attend the gym and enjoy reading.

Practice Area

I have been practising as a family law Solicitor for over 30 years and most of my work comes from recommendations from former clients.

I am experienced in cases involving financial issues, breakdown of marriage and relationships, and disputes involving children.

Many of my clients are of high net worth.

I also prepare wills and lasting powers of attorney and deal with probate as well.

I try to deal with the difficulties that our clients face with a sympathetic but common-sense approach, always aiming to achieve the best possible result.

Education, Professional Qualifications and Memberships

After attending local schools, including Whitchurch High School, I obtained a law degree from Cardiff University in 1981, then The College of Law in London. I then undertook training with a large Cardiff firm and, after qualifying in 1985, spent a number of years running their family law department before moving on.

I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my granddaughter, friends and dogs.

I have worked over the last four years, assisting the solicitors with family and private client matters, which has been strengthened by my studies in Law at university.

I have a passion for helping others and supporting the legal team with their duties.

I have a caring and compassionate manner, which shines through in my work and client-facing contact.

I am currently completing my third year studying law at Exeter University.

I currently live between Cardiff and Exeter.

I love cooking, travelling, and spending time with my partner, friends, and family.

I’m currently training for yet another half marathon with my chosen charity the NSPCC, which I feel passionate about.

With 30 years of experience as a dedicated Personal Legal Assistant, I bring a wealth of expertise across all areas of law, with a special focus on Family Law and Probate, Wills and Trust matters.

I am passionate about supporting legal professionals and clients alike, offering organisational efficiency, attention to detail, and strong administrative support.

My extensive experience has enabled me to develop a comprehensive understanding of legal procedures, ensuring that tasks are managed effectively and with precision.

Educated through to A Level.

It’s not all work!

I enjoy organising charity events, raising money in particular for Cancer Research.

I am an avid reader, and love to cycle and dance to keep fit.

Living in Mid Wales, I have many beautiful scenic places to visit and meet lots of new people.

Practice Area

I started with MD Law in February 2024 to assist with office management duties and accounts.

I also assist clients with their enquiries and the solicitors with their legal requirements.

I am a qualified Optometrist but changed career path and now find myself working in the legal sector helping people in a different manner.

I love to help people. I try to offer empathy and understanding to clients when dealing with them, in what could be a stressful time in their lives.

I am a busy mother of twin boys and like to spend time with family and friends.

With 2 decades of industry expertise, Jay is an Independent Compliance and Risk Management Consultant who supports the firm in their compliance and risk management needs.

She has been supporting the business for many years and continues to support us.
